Are hair transplants performed on women?

If a person experiences significant, irreparable hair loss due to hair loss, hair transplantation is undoubtedly a treatment method that will psychologically calm the person throughout his life. It must be accepted that hair loss - regardless of whether it occurs in men or women - is a serious issue that bothers many people a lot. Not only complete hair loss, but even local hair loss can psychologically stress a person, plunge them into a deep void and lead to a lack of self-confidence.

In this context, hair loss is often more stressful for women than for men. Statistically, more than half of men face regional hair loss and serious hair loss problems and are comparatively more familiar with this situation. This proportion is lower for women. If the extent of hair loss is severe, it can cause great distress to the affected woman. In addition, women place more importance on their external appearance than men. For this reason, women in particular should take hair loss seriously.

In men, hair loss is often genetically determined. For women the situation is somewhat different. Women often face hair loss problems during certain phases of life such as pregnancy, postpartum or menopause. Additionally, hormonal imbalances, cosmetic products, hair dyes, and stress can cause unwanted hair loss.

There are some differences between women and men when it comes to hair transplants. In men, hair loss is usually genetic and regional. The hairline is affected first, followed by the sides and top of the head, while the hair in the area between the ears and on the neck does not fall out. Because hair transplant surgeries use the hair roots from this area, the results are usually very successful.

For women the situation is somewhat different. The hair loss known as “alopecia totalis” usually occurs with the same intensity in all areas. With this type of hair loss, there is a possibility that the transplanted hair will also fall out, making it more difficult to achieve successful results as in men.

If you are facing serious hair loss or hair loss, we recommend that you first consult a specialized dermatologist. If your hair loss is not repairable or treatable, you can regain your lost hair through a hair transplant.
